2 days ago I got invited to speak to a private community about my success on X
I had never imagined that my time on X would lead me to become a guest speaker
So what did I talk about?
I put together a mini masterclass on community building
Here's exactly what I taught them:
The Art of Community
I believe that without community, society would fail
Community is at the core of everything we do as human beings
We all naturally desire communities and want to feel apart of something bigger than us as individuals
Without communities, there would be no social media
Building a great community is something that takes time, effort, and consistency
But I truly believe that it is the most fruitful thing you can do
Communities open the doors to new opportunities, connections and wealth unlike anything else
So how do you build a community on X?
Well, I believe it comes down to these 3 things:
1. Branding
We live in a world where things are moving faster than ever and humans have very short attention spans
Having a strong brand is what attracts new attention
Your brand tells people who you are and what you're all about
On X, make sure you have a great profile picture and banner with a bio that is straight to the point
If you can build a brand that is attractive to your target audience, you will attract more attention
And more attention will lead to a bigger community
2. Content
Once you have a well built brand that attracts new attention, now the goal is to keep it
This is done through your content
Having great content that backs up what your brand is all about will turn people from viewers to followers
On X, make sure you are putting out high-value content
Teach people something new, help them solve their problems, share emotions, tell stories, etc
Give them a reason to be apart of your community
3. Personality
This is the most important component to building a great community
Anyone can build an audience by delivering value
But an audience becomes a community when they like your personality as well
Just think about it
Taylor Swift fans love her so much not just because of her music, but because they love her as a person
The combination of her value (music) and her personality is what has lead to her mega success
So how do you showcase your personality on X?
By using the 80/20 rule
When I put out content on X, I make sure that roughly 80% of it is value content that directly relates to my brand, and 20% of it is personal content that tells people about who I am
That way you slowly warm up your audience to who you are and build a deeper, more personal connection
You go from an audience of people to a community of friends who share similar interests

Overall, I believe that community building should be the main focus for any creator online (especially on X)
The goal should be to building a community, not just a follower count
